2015 Web Marketing Trends: An Eye For Design

A month an a half into the new year, digital trends are already starting to take shape. According to an infographic from Bowen Media, the biggest trends for web marketing in 2015 are all design-focused. Now, more than ever, customers and potential customers will be taking your website's design into account when they consider whether or not to recommend your business to others. Let's take a closer look at these trends:

  • A focus on mobile. Americans are now using their phones more than their computers - 60% of our time spent on digital devices is now spent on smartphones, and most users not only expect a good-looking and functional mobile website experience, but demand it. Responsive web design is here to stay, and is more important than ever.
  • More scrolling, less clicking. Touch screens have changed the way most people browse: scrolling is now more natural than clicking a button. Two booming trends in web design address this: parallax scrolling, and infinite scrolling. Parallax creates an appealing 3D visual effect as the user scrolls, and infinite scrolling allows a site to load more content as the user scrolls down the page. Both of these elements are subtle, but add to your site's appeal.
  • Keep it simple. Designs are moving more toward a minimalistic approach - single-page layouts, minimal text, and condensed content are all becoming more popular among business sites. While elaborate designs are beautiful, simple layouts load more quickly and work better on mobile devices.

Technology changes all the time, and web designers must keep ahead of the trends in order to anticipate what customers will want. Some trends pass quickly, and some stay for good. Pay attention to what your customers respond to, and you'll always stay ahead.
