LinkedIn Profiles- Is your LinkedIn profile complete?

If you are a business owner, you are working very hard to brand your company. That is incredibly important and worth the time and effort. Your business and brand need to be “out there”! But, guess what? YOU need to be out there, too. It’s important for your business to have it’s own site, brand and following. It’s also important for you to have your own brand!

LinkedIn is king right now for social business networking. It is essentially Facebook, but for the business world. It is a place for you to have your own profile and brand, not just your business. You can get contacts (like followers), have endorsements and recommendations written about you, join groups, and publish articles and blog posts you have written. It’s all about you!

 

Just like for your business, you have to keep it fresh. Here are a few tips on how to keep your profile current:

- Check on your profile daily or weekly. You decide what works best, but the point is; don’t set it and forget it!

- Add little things here and there. Did you read a good article? You can post it to your LinkedIn page. Does your company’s website have a new blog post? Post it to your profile page.

- Join at least 3 groups. They can be local groups, business-based, or hobby-based. This is YOUR page.

- Add contacts. It’s all about networking these days, anyway. You can never have too many contacts!**

**If you see the term LION next to a contact, that is a person that connects with anybody and everybody, whether they know them or not. Some schools of thought say to avoid these contacts, it is ultimately your call.
